General fitness announcements
MINDBODY looked at their class bookings for 2018 and found that Yoga (25%), Barre (6%) and Pilates (6%) were the most popular, with Cycling coming in at number 4 (4%).
I much prefer bootcamps, weight training classes and HIIT sessions because I love to come away sweaty and out of breath, feeling like I’ve pushed myself. But maybe there’s something in yoga that I need to try out and discover.
Interestingly, Decathlon also found that over 65’s are the most physically active in the UK. More than two fifths of over 65’s take part in sport eight times more a month than those of us aged 25-34.
Product launches you need to have if you’re into fitness!
Not a product, but a fitness class… David Lloyd Clubs have launched LIIT (low intensity interval training) classes. Last year was all about HIIT, but LIIT are perfect for those wanting to keep fit but have a chaotic lifestyle, training regularly at a high pace or those wanting to reduce pressure and stress on joints.
The fitness classes encourage slower, controlled movements, focusing on good form. Example workouts include switching from jumping jacks to slowed down squats.
