A study carried out by PureGym has found that the average Brit consumes 322 cans a year of soft drinks. Out of 26 countries in the study, the UK came in seventh place. In comparison, Germans are the worst, consuming 423 cans a year, and those in Greece are the most health conscious, consuming just 145 cans a year.

A study carried out in America has found that people simply aren’t aware that an insufficient level of exercise can contribute to an increased risk of various cancers. Whilst people are aware not exercising can lead to cardiovascular and metabolic issues, just 3.4% are aware it can increase their chances of cancers such as breast and colon. If you’re interested, the full study has been published in the Journal of Health Communication.

A new app called TimeTravel has launched that allows you to see how far you could get within a period of time from where you are, depending on your mode of transport. So say you wanted to go for a bike ride and only wanted to be gone an hour, you’d select your location, mode of transport and that you want to go 30 minutes away (allowing time for there and back). Once you’ve entered your details, it highlights the area in which you can travel. The app allows for walking, cycling, driving and taking public transport, up to 1 hour 30 minutes distance.
